7A

The holidays are fast approaching and I can tell everyone is excited!

Make sure you have all of your journals up to date for writing. The end of the marking period will be here before you know it and you want to make sure your journal is in great shape. I have all of the journals written down if you have missed some.

Your book reports are due on January 4, 2008 (in 2 more weeks). Please follow the format that was handed out; it may cost you points if you do not follow it.

There will be a quiz in Reading next week on the story that we are reading from Elena. Remember to study your vocabulary words and the spelling of them. I am proud of you guys for the great scores on the last quiz! Keep it up!

In Math, you will have a quiz Friday, December 14, 2007 on Mean, Median, Mode, and Range. I know you guys will do great.

In Social Studies, we have just started Chapter 3 on Mayan and Aztecs. It is important for you to make sure that you are completing your guided reading worksheets. If you study those for every quiz and tests, you will do fine! Also remember to turn in your guided reading worksheets after every chapter test so you can get credit for them.

In Science we are still learning about seeds and flowers. Keep your composition book up to date because it is a GREAT tool for studying (hint, hint).

In Physical Education, we have finished our unit on basketball. In Health, we are learning about self image!

I hope everyone has a great weekend and enjoys their holiday break!

Lets all think WHITE CHRISTMAS!

December is here!

Well we are almost to the middle of the 2nd marking period.. Thats right, progress reports will be coming out December 11!

Please make sure that you do not owe any work! If you do, we only have a couple of days to get it turned in.

There is a reading quiz on Tuesday.. make sure you STUDY! The quiz will cover the story we just read, Dragon's Pearl, and the new vocabulary words.

In Social Studies, we are well into Chapter 2 on Africa. We are currently on Section 3 and will be taking a quiz on it next week. The Africa Book that you made should have been turned in, please make sure it was.

In Math, we have just finished multiplying and dividing fractions and mixed numbers. Remember: you must have a notebook with paper and a pencil in class. It is now a requirement to take notes in class. It is definitely to your benefit since you were able to use your notes on the last quiz.

I hope everyone has a great week!

This week in 7A!

Are you all ready for Thanksgiving? I know I am! Here are the things we are working on in 7A!

A reminder to students: Please make sure you check with me about missing work. I am keeping up on all missing work for all classes, so make sure you check to make sure you do not have any. If you do, we will be completing it during elective period!

In Writing, most of the students have finished their persuasive essays or are waiting to type their essays. We are pleased with the way they have turned out! Be sure to work on your book report as well! Follow the scoring guide that was handed out because it tells you how the format is supposed to be.

In Reading, we are working on complete subjects and predicates. This is key to forming sentences correctly! As you read anything, practice picking out the subject and predicate of the sentences in whatever you are reading.

In Math, we are going to be finishing up Skill 17 and moving on to Skill 18. We are multiplying and dividing fractions (including mixed numbers). Remember the new requirement, you MUST have paper, copy the notes, and SHOW YOUR WORK!

In Social Studies, we are studying Africa in Chapter 2. Remember to study your study guides for each section.. this will help you greatly when it is time for the test! You should have your Africa book completed and turned in as well. You need to have a cover and 2 facts about the physical geography and 2 facts about the history of the Bantu.

In Science, we have a test coming up! There will be a test on Prokaryotic and Eukaryotic cells on Tuesday, November 20, 2007. If you study the study guide given in class and the notes in your composition book you will do fine.

In Health and PE, we are still having Physical Education due to Ms. Belton's absence. Lets all wish her well on her recovery!

I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving. Think about all you have to be thankful for!

November

Hello All!

In Writing, we are working on our persuasive essays. The students are writing a persuasive essay on how computers make our lives easier and harder. They are completing all the steps necessary to produce a good essay. I am quite pleased with how they have turned out so far.

In reading, the students are beginning a book report for their self selected reading books. Now that you have seen the requirements, you can choose to start a new book if you want. A rubric was given out to the students so they knew what to look for when reading.

In math, we are working on the Skills Review. We are currently adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators.

In Social Studies, we are beginning Chapter 2.

In Science, we are studying prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. The students just finished creating a poster to show the difference between the two.

Please contact me if you have any questions! Have a great week!
